4 IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULDN’T NEGLECT BEFORE VISITING NEW PARENTS

So, your friend just become a parent after a long wait or you just become the khala or phopho for the first time and now you can’t wait to visit the new baby. The whole feeling of excitement and joy of visiting the baby, congratulating the new parents and celebrating the birth can’t just be as amazing as it could be. As a desi Pakistani, sometimes we forget a few etiquettes in this whole scene. Here are few things you should keep in mind to avoid any embarrassment or awkwardness on both sides.

#1 VISIT WHEN IT IS SUITABLE FOR THEM

We can understand all your excitement and eagerness to but make sure when you visit new parents it is convenient for them not for you. You want to visit them as early as possible no problem, but don’t forget to make a call or message to ask for the permission. Even if he or she is very close friend or family to you, still it is bad manners to visit someone without informing them before.

#2 DON’T SAY ANYTHING MEAN

With all due respect but we Pakistanis are sometimes very outspoken without any shame or regards! Especially when it comes to desi aunties, they don’t shy saying hurtful or mean things. When you visit, a newborn try to avoid any harsh comment about how he or she looks in front of their parents. No matter how close you are to the lady, don’t say anything harsh about the newly mommy’s appearance. Try to be a little empathetic and sensitive.

#3 ALWAYS BE HYGIENE CONSCIOUS

Be neat and clean, disease-free before visiting. No matter how many times you have washed it before wash it before holding or touching the baby. If you are most probably sick, or any symptoms then please do not go to visit a newborn. You can always make an excuse on call as your visit can cause the baby suffer sometimes.  If you have kids, please for God sake don’t bring them with you to visit the newborns. They can just create the tension and stress in the environment.

 

#4 EVER VISIT EMPTY-HAND

It’s always better to have something for the parents. If you’re visiting them at the hospital a flower bouquet or some sweets can be enough to celebrate the moment. But later, go shop for the new born baby accessories, baby clothes, baby rompers, newborn suits. You will always find cute stuff for the new born that you can’t just stop yourself to buy. It is always better to shop for them earlier, as new parents love to receive gifts for their babies.
